• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

ok, been testing Segment Pro with my desktop computer. going along fine. Next month I am planning on doing a review for our turners club so I loaded it onto my Win 10 HP laptop. it's screen resolution is 1368x768 and I can't see all of the screen, see screen shot:

is there a resolution hange that would make the bottom (bowl settings) visible at the same time?

Dave,

When writing an user interface, you have to pick a number of lines of resolution to target. If I were to pick 768 (the resolution of the last generation of laptops), it would fill only 2/3 of the screen of the current laptop offerings which start at 1080 (1920 x 1080 or 1080p). As a compromise, I targeted 900.

It is unfortunate, but there's just no way I can make Segment PRO fit on 768 vertical lines - especially when more than 80% of current computers are 900 lines of more.

Thanks for the reply. I figured as much. to be fair, my laptop is 7 years old and maybe this is the excuse I needed to buy a new one. (At least that's what I'll tell my wife!)

I'm always glad to help a customer, Dave. :->

Fortunately, prices are quite reasonable for PCs, including laptops, these days.

Lloyd: I got a new laptop, still with a 1368x768 resolution, but I can adjust to that. But I just noticed on my desktop computer (resolution: 1650x1080) the text in the BOWL SETTINGS window is cut off. (See attachment) Not a big deal once your familiar with the program but curious as on my laptop at it looks fine. The text settings for my display are at 100%.

Dave,
Your screen resolution is 1080 but the bottom Windows task bar takes up some of that resolution and cuts into my software. If you want, you can drag the task bar to the left or right and you will then get the entire 1080. I find that to be inconvenient, though, and so I leave it as it is and almost never need to move the scroll bar - especially since the only fields I put at the bottom are ones that are seldom or never used.

I question whether your resolution is 768 on the laptop if you are seeing the entire user interface. I'm pretty good at math and if I'm using 900 (or more) vertical lines and only 768 exist, a number of them at the bottom won't be seen. So count me puzzled on that one.

let me claify. on my desktop (res:1680x1050) the words "Row Thickness" appear as " Row Thickn" and the word "open" appears as "op" with the the letter e cut off in the middle. (see previouly attached screen shot). Also "Spacer Width" appears as "Spacer Wid" Not a big deal once you've used the program a short while, but could cause someone pause if they are evaluating.

As for my laptop, I didn't mean to suggest I could see the entire user interface. I meant that when you scroll down to see the BOWL SETTINGS window the text is appears perfectly. I thought it odd that with a higher resolution the text was cut off. Curiously, I reduced the resolution on my desktop to 1366x768 and the text is STILL cut off.. Go figure. In any case I have it running on my laptop and will do a demo for our club (Central Arkansas Woodturners: www.centralarwoodturners.org) this Saturday. I will be buying a copy for myself and perhaps I can sell a few more for you.

Dave,
The only way this is possible is for the size of the text/controls to be increased. I think you'll find where this is happening but if not, call me at 5O3-78l-5ll7 and I'll share your screen with me and resolve this issue.

Lloyd

Thanks Lloyd. I just placed and order for Segment Pro and Lamination Pro. Haven't had much chance to deal with LP yet. Not sure we need to do a call on the resolution issue, but when I'm ready to discuss, I'll give you a call. THX
