• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Hi! I am fairly new to turning. Just started about a year ago and have made a lot of fun little things like pepper mills, bowls, bottle stoppers, tool handles, utensil handles, etc. Just getting in to segmented turning... my first piece is in progress. I bought the Segment Pro program, which is pretty cool. I see some very awesome, but complicated looking pieces and plans on here. Where can I find the beginner plans?? :)

Welcome to the group Mike. Segment Pro has a ton of profiles included all you need to do is decide on what pallet (wood choice) you want to use and then build a feature ring. Hopefully you purchased Lamination Pro along with Segment Pro. There are several build along examples but in my mind they are too complicated for anyone that is not advanced or at least very detailed oriented. My suggestion is to use the Intermediate level until you have basic construction down and you have produced a few pieces with tight joints and shaped just the way you want. That isn't to say you can't start off with a very high level painted piece and with the right amount of patience and dedication produce something that will challenge the best posted here. The main thing is have fun even when you have had a "learning" experience.

Welcome to the WTP forum.

Stuart is correct that there are many profiles available in SP. You may also notice there is three levels you can select. I would use novice 12 segment or intermediate 16 segments.

If you haven't done it yet, investing is a good cutting sled will help you segment builds. Many have converted over to using the segeasy sled. Here is a link.

Hi guys. Yeah, I made the segeasy sled, and purchased some of the wedgies, and actually just finished my first piece ... it is a tornado bowl (vase? urn?) that I designed in the seg pro software....10 rows, 18 segments each. It all went together perfectly. So, I have the basic techniques down...but where I fall short is the artistic design part, and I am not ready for the intricate and complicated designs I see on here....I am not up to that level yet so some more basic designs would be nice because I suck at design. But, I will keep plugging away at it...cuz I am pleased with my first piece. thanks

I can't draw worth a darn. I get a lot of my ideas by searching the internet for segment bowls ideas.
SP is excellent software. I started out with the WTP suite a few years ago. To this day I use both software depending on what I want to design.
Share a photo of your first piece. The gallery is a great place to do that.
