• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

Build 1.1.023 - New Summary features - Print and Export! (beta version)

Just make a note that all numbers are the same as the setting preference. I don't know about Bob but I can usually remember if I want to work in inches or mm. FWIW, I do prefer metric for width and SEL but need to think in imperial when it comes to length. I use a metric tape but when checking to see if a board is roughly long enough I'll use a combination tape. My Incra table saw fence measures 1/32 but I have it zeroed on one of the tapes to read mm. The measurement will not be 100% accurate when it locks a .0312 instead of .0393 but I can live with that error. I would have purchased the metric version but most flat work plans I have are in fractions.

I did not have any problem with exporting to excel and having everything come up as numbers that were correctly totaled. The attached screen shot shows how it exported. the only change I made was to format the column width to fit on one page, increase the font size and add the alternating color to more easily see each row.

Art the totals that are present are the total produced by Segment PRO, they are correct.

But if you delete those totals and use Excel to total you will get 0 (zero) because they came into Excel as text not numbers.

Yes. I'll have the final Summary Page uploaded today. I've changed all of the columns to numeric values except the diameters because the diameters are never used in calculations or totals.

I'm also going to figure out why the diameter isn't showing in the price system.

Art that is going to be a new feature in Segment PRO, Lloyd said there will a push pull for each row so you can control the profile and wall thickness

An update to the Cutaway project - my first attempt to implement this had some bad side effects and so I have to come up with a different way to do this. The good news is that I now know what challenges I have to overcome but it will have to wait until I return from my trip.

Are you going to be able to change individual row thickness also?

Or change between open and closed segment individually?

That is the plan, but since changes the architecture of how the software builds the bowl, there is a lot of work that has to be done.

The export of the summary has reverted back to text rather than numbers in build 27

Here is the exported summary for my current build 'Maze'

The export of the summary has reverted back to text rather than numbers in build 27
As is so often the case, a fairly simple change has the ability to foul things up pretty good and this was the case in switching the text to numerics for the Summary Page. This doesn't make a lick of difference if it is a text field, but is a show stopper if it is a numeric field. In doing so, it completely broke the ability for French users to use either the Summary Page or the Rings View. The problem is that the decimal delimiter in the US is the period and in the rest of the world is the comma. Interestingly enough, though is that France is the only place I found so far where this broke things. The Culture setting in the other companies appear to allow a period as an alternate character and France does not.
So to fix this temporarily, it was necessary to revert back until I return and I'll come up with a permanent solution after I figure out exactly what the difference is between France and other countries.

It's always something, isn't it?

You shouldn't have to do anything. This build should work everywhere in the world. It just will export some columns in text rather than numeric values.

We got to Melbourne yesterday after 17 hours on two planes. In a couple hours we are leaving for Alice Springs - another four hour flight.
:-(

Nice weather, though.

I guess I was confused. And sometimes it does not take much.

When you said to fix temporarily it was necessary to revert back. I am running the latest version build 27 and that is the version with the text for numbers?

Bob,
I was typing from my iPhone and so I wasn't as clear as I could have been.

Build .027 is the temporary build that resolves the issue that prevents some (and could be all) international users from using either the Summary Page or the Rings View. The temporary fix was to revert some of the columns back to text and this did fix the problem.

What is unknown to me is how to resolve this issue so that the data in the grid can be changed from text to numbers in a way that it doesn't cause the software to abort in some countries. Aman in India is helping me with this issue. I'm sure there is an answer to this, but without being able to replicate the issue, I' not currently sure what it is. I'm working with a great couple of users that are glad to be the guinea pigs for the testing but it's a coordination nightmare. I have Aman make the changes then download it to my computer so I can make a new build and then upload it to a customer's computer to see if it worked. So it takes about an hour at exactly the time that all three of us are up and at our computers to see if a single change worked or not.

When I get back, it will be faster to see if I can make a virtual machine with a French version of Windows 10 and try to replicate the issue.

For now, though, Build .027 is the only build available for installing and it will work just fine for everyone but not have the data be numeric when exporting to Excel.
