• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.

SEL versus actual blade to stop distance

I was in error. It should be as shown above. Or in Excel (since excel uses radians): Stop Distance = SEl * COS(RADIANS(MiterAngle/2))

SEL versus actual blade to stop distance

What I did: 1) Export the WTP sheet to a .csv file. 2) Add a column next to the SEL column labeled "Corrected SEL" with this formula: =G3*COS(RADIANS(K3)) where G is the column that has SEL and K is the column with the miter angle. Then I use the "corrected SEL" value to set my stop.

    Setting the SEL cutting stop

As you can see I was setting the distance between the blade and the stop to the SEL. That results in the segment being cut too long by a factor of 1.035 for the 12 segs/ring shown. Anyone know a better way to set the stop?

    ring glueing jig

I like this idea. I'm currently using big hose clamps which work OK, but the segment(s) under the "buckle" tend to get pushed in if I'm not careful. I've seen the one Earl r. uses, but I'd have to make several since my process is to cut all the segments for all the rings at on time (keep each...

First piece using lam pro and set pro

Had some one-on-one help from Lloyd, but and I had quite a challenge getting those piece off the lathe. I made this in two pieces. After completely finishing the interior of both, I glued them together into one. I had a face plate on each end which allowed plenty of support to do the outside...

    Introducing the Stomper

If I could have found a barbell weight for $12 I would have done that and no one would have the benefit of the paint can idea which is considerably less than $12.

    Introducing the Stomper

I’m new to using the stomper and after watching the video tried to find a barbell weight that didn’t cost more than the stomper. Instead, I realized that a gallon paint can full of sand weighs 12 lbs. I grabbed an empty clean can, cut a 2” dia hole in the center of the bottom to fit over the...

    Hi! New to this Forum

Hello to all! My name is Jim. I am not a wood turner. Yet. I have a Nova DVR XP and I have made a few things, mostly pens, a few salt/pepper mills, and some bottle stoppers and tree ornaments. I make mostly small boxes, some with marquetry, some with veneer, and some using just pretty wood...

    Wedgie VS Lloyd's sled

I watched just about every YouTube video on sleds and finally settled on Lloyd’s sled with some of my own adaptations. 1) I didn’t use threaded inserts - just tapped the sled base for 1/4-20 knobs 2) I added a Wixie depth gauge do measure the S.E.L. I remove the gauge after setting the stop...
