• Are you looking for a coupon code to buy my software? You can get one from lots of 3rd party sites but they won't work. My software never goes on sale and has never been discounted. The only coupon codes that are given is when I give a club presentation and I offer a discount to the attendees. Other than that, everyone pays the same price.
  • Due to a scam attack, the gallery is temporarily turned off. I am working to get this fixed but I have some other things that are higher prioriity. I do hope to have it back soon and there shouldn't be any changes to the content. At least, that is the hope.

    Miter Saw dust

Using the miter saw without having the sawdust go all over the place, I decided to try this setup. One big gulp dust hood sold at amazon and a few bungie cords. My miter saw is on a small table with locking casters allowing me to roll it around in my shop (almost everything in my shop is on...

    Lacquer

Most of what I find locally for lacquer in quart size is water based. Is there a big difference between it and regular lacquer? I have a spray setup that will work with either but don't know the differences between the two. Is one better than the other for woodworking? Thanks for the help.

    Finishing

I have noticed on several gallery posts that the finish on the projects is mirror like in it's reflection. So my question is what are the favorite types of finish used and how are they applied? I know a good clean surface and smooth surface is needed, but I can get the finish I'm looking for...

    Gluing

I have started using the cap that comes off my wife's large laundry detergent jugs to hold glue while I'm assembling my segment's. They're clear so I can see the level of glue inside with a glance. I rinse it and the brush when I'm done and reuse. It saves a lot of time and I always have...

    Live tailstock with chuck adapter.

I came across this and bought one. it works great for long, large vases etc.. Just thought I'd post it in case others use a shopsmith or find it usable, and have the need for one. It beats trying to make a steady rest for larger items.

    Correct saw blade.

I've made my table saw sled, now the question is what blade would be the best to use and have the best results? I have tried different types and different numbers of teeth but don't want to keep experimenting, it's not cost effective. I cut mostly dried hardwoods. One other question is what is...

    Compound cuts.

When I look at the pictures of some of the designs, I notice that some go form a wide bowl and quickly go up to a smaller opening. The segments seem to rise quickly to this opening. Do these segments have a stave like cut on the bottom to go up and inwards at such a quick rate? The simplicity...

    Segment gaps

I have noticed when cutting 8, 12, or 16 segments they all seem to go together good and glue up without any small gaps. Some times when I do 18-30 segments I wind up with a small gap between at least two segments and sometimes more. I triple check my lengths and my angles. What are some things I...

    How to cut staves.

What is the best way to support and cut staves that are 3 inches high and 1 inch wide on a miter saw, without getting your fingers close to the blade?

    Feature ring.

What would be the best way to cut a segmented angle on a laminated piece that is 3 inches high 1 inch wide and 5/8 inch thick? Would making some type of sled for the table saw be best? Still learning the process so any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
