I’m fairly new to the open segment turning and created this from my trial run with Segment Pro. The software is . I found the inside neck was a bit tricky turning with the open segments.
This vessel is from maple, walnut, Sapele, padauk and wenge. It measures 18” wide and 12” high with a 56.5” circumference. Just over 2300 pieces on a floating base.
What a great "trial run" vessel. SW patterns are my favorite. Good color combination.
I have not dwelled much in open segment. I work mostly in closed. For me its a bit of challenge doing closed segment 36 or 48 segments per ring and get a very accurate pattern.

SP painting feature does make it easier to produce interesting patterns.

Thanks, I tried closed years ago and I didn’t really take to it. I may give it a whirl again in the future but for now I will see where the open takes me.

I do not know what to say about this one but the word "Striking" comes to mind. The color combo is marvelous.
