Questions about my first segmented piece

Hello everyone! Asking for a little assistance please.
This is an urn I just designed in Seg pro. My brother requested for me to make him one for future use.
Looks wise is this acceptable for an urn? The main wood is maple with walnut top/bottom/ring and a little cherry. I was just going to do a solid ring for the center but after watching Lloyd's video I wanted it to be more.
Second and just as important; I need the opening to be 5" to accommodate the bag of ashes. This was the size recommended by the mortuary. Even though this urn will not be the permanent storage unit I want to install a threaded ring so the lid screws on. I understand I can move the red dots/line to adjust shape and size, but how do I ensure a specific inch measurement for the lip? I do not see anywhere where I can verify the diameter of a specific ring. All I see is the max diameter measurement. Hope this makes sense.
*I realize that the upper shape needs to change to accommodate the rim I want.
Thanks!

Nice urn. I do not see why it would not be acceptable.

In SP (Bowl Setting Window ) use the diameter less or more button to change the diameter.
After a change go into the Summary sheet and see the diameter of top ring till you get to your 5 inches.

If you do a Share / Export you will create a *.json file of your project. That file you can attached to a post. Then someone helping can download the file and import into SP. It helps to work from the same data you are.

Don't know if the funeral home told you the volume you need. If you have not noticed in the cutaway view of SP, it lists the volume of the vessel in cu in.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your help! Yes I understand about the volume. I'm going for around 225 cubic inches. After some tweaking I have the top rim the size I need (I think). Still need to figure out the threads.
I have a couple more questions if you do not mind:
The summary sheet shows the angle of the cuts. Is this the total angle or the angle of each side of the piece I am cutting?
Where do I find the info and cuts etc for the featured ring?

Thank you very much!

It is the angle you set your miter gauge at. (ex: 12 segments miter gauge is set at 15 degrees.)

360 degrees in a circle / 12 segments = 30, Segments are cut on both sides hence the 15 degrees
or better 180 / 12 segments = 15 degrees.

It would be helpful if you attach the *json file. so I can look at it.
You are going to build up the diamond shape in a block. the number you will need depends on the number of diamonds. The block then has each end mitered just like the segment rings. For example if there were 12 diamonds the miter angle would be 15.

Do a search on segmented bowl diamond featured ring. There are a number of videos.
here is a thread on WTP on diamond featured rings.

A little about the volume calculation...

I start with row #2 and stop at 1” from the top of the turning to accommodate for the lid. While this may not always be correct for the design you are making, it should be close enough because the calculation of 1 pound = 1 cubic inch is a rule of thumb that is not based on science.

Jim:
I imported your json file ok. What is strange is it seems to only give me the profile and not the vessel plan like the image you posted in your post 1.

If you have LP, here is a vid showing making diamonds. Start about halfway through the vid (10 min mark)
