| I
began working with wood in 1992 by making jewelry
boxes and other small lidded boxes. I did that until
my wife and daughters had their houses filled with
my endeavors. In 1999, right across the street from
where my first grandson had just been born, a tool
store had a lathe on sale. I celebrated his birth
by buying it.
I
began turning pens and other small trinkets. A
short time later, I saw a goblet in a woodworking
store that was advertising a class in segment
turning. I took the class and was hooked. The
instructor was Dennis Montville. We have remained
good friends and both serve as officers of the
Detroit Area Woodturners club.
Since
then I have read every article I could find and
studied countless pictures by the best segment
turners in the world. I attended the annual American
Association of Woodturners symposium and overdosed
on knowledge. I am constantly trying new things
and developing my own style and signature pieces
I
presently have pieces in three galleries and am
looking for more galleries to represent me. My
mission statement: To produce art of the highest
quality that people of all walks of life will
appreciate and treasure.
